SQUARE ONE - BETH BOORMAN PHOTOS!

SQUARE ONE EXHIBITION

I have just completed my first group show since graduating. This was an exciting opportunity which allowed the four of us to be in complete control (curation, promotion etc).
My work changed in this new gallery setting and also in the setting of my home town of Hastings. It was all very personal and considered in terms of viewing.

Photos to follow soon!

WORK SHOWING AT NELSON'S ANTIQUES, HIGH STREET, HASTINGS.

I currently have work displayed in an antique shop. The vintage atmosphere really suits the illustrations and my idea of discovering something old and giving it a new meaning and existance. The work focuses on the repeat, again using the theory that this makes an image seem more appealing. I want the work to engage the local viewer but also the outsider through specific composition and fun, nostalgic imagery. So go see it!

These photographs show an album of work that I have recently created. My work deals with the handmade, found photography and vintage printed matter through the use of collage and illustration. I wish to take advantage of the 'familiar' and the act of remembering as a way of engaging the viewer. Although this nostalgia is paramount, so too is proving the subject matter actually existed and giving the imagery a new life through my work.

Sneek peek at my degree show work. I can't believe it's all over!
I'm really happy with the result of my space. I want the viewer
to absorb and be absorbed by my work and I feel this
all-encompassing drawn installation does this successfully.

Wall extravaganza, part two.

Realisation occurs...

These paper acted as a 'realisation' moment. They still involve the music imagery but now incorporate more 'historic' pieces too. This opens my work up greatly, especially in the sense that a major theme can now be grasped - the idea of the posed image.

Wall extravaganza, Part one.

First pictures of studio wall drawing/installation extravaganza!

I want to contaminate and bombard my viewer by making these
intricate visual pieces.

These first works deal with music/'pop' imagery. They are a direct
response; a complete celebration. I am illustrating the reality of my
culture.
